Tribal organisations hail CM for Sarna Code

A delegation of National Tribal Sarna Dharma Raksha Abhiyan congratulated and honoured Chief Minister Hemant Soren on passing of the proposal of Sarna Adivasi Dharma Code from Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. On this occasion, the members of the Abhiyan felicitated the CM with a shawl as a symbol of tribal Sarna Dharma.

Expressing gratitude for the support received by the tribal Sarna Samaj, the CM said that yesterday was a historic day for all residents of the State. “Not only the people of Jharkhand are hailing the proposal of the Sarna Adivasi religious code, which has been passed from the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, people in many areas including West Bengal and Odisha are very excited and are expressing happiness. This is the first step in this direction. We have to climb many more stairs. We are not only hopeful but confident that the steps we have taken will be heard throughout the country,” said the CM.

Soren said that he was constantly trying for the last 15 days about the tribal Sarna religious code. There were repeated concerns that the proposal of tribal Sarna religious code should be passed from the Legislative Assembly and sent to the Central Government. For this, there was constant discussion. But, the passage of the resolution of the Tribal Sarna Dharma Code from the Legislative Assembly is a pleasant feeling. It has brought peace to the mind and peace to the heart.

The CM said that the proposal of Sarna Adivasi religious code has been passed by the Jharkhand Assembly, but many battles are yet to be fought. “It has to be implemented by the Central Government in every situation so that it can be included in the upcoming census. A detailed action plan has been prepared to move forward in this direction. Our steps have never stopped so that tribal Sarna society gets its rights and rights. We will keep moving forward,” he added.

The CM further said that there are many hurdles in implementing the provisions of Adivasi Sarna religious code. How to overcome these obstacles will also be discussed further with organisations representing tribal society.

He also said that the Tribal Advisory Council would be constituted and consulted on this matter so that the government can fulfill the tribal interests. He said that he is looking at this matter above party and religion and cooperation of all is being taken in it.
