Tuesday, 28 January 2020 | PNS | JAJPUR

The male elephant that killed four villagers, including a 12-year-old boy, during its weeklong rampage in Jajpur district, was tranquilised late on Monday evening after a massive operation to capture the tusker.

“We started the operation on Monday with an expert team including veterinarians from the Nandankanan Zoological Park on the ground. Forest officials tracked the rogue through the Kantipur forest using drones  and managed  to tranquilise the elephant,” said Jajpur Road Forest Range Officer Debendra Patnaik.
