Chhattisgarh Police on Monday seized 214.77 kg of cannabis valued at Rs 10 lakh and arrested two persons in Durg district who were transporting it from Odisha to Kabirdham district in the state.

Durg Superintendent of Police Prashant Kumar Thakur told The Pioneer over telephone that the arrested men were driver Manoj Sahu (42) and his cleaner-assistant Jharnesh Yadu (23), both residents of Bemetara district.

The action was taken based on a tip that the contraband was being transported to Kabirdham from Odisha via the Raipur-Nagpur National Highway NH-31, Thakur said.

Police intercepted a white colour Bolero (CG-09, B-1946) during checking near a toll plaza in the Kumhari police station limits.

The police seized the drug from the Bolero, which was seized along with two mobile phones and `8,500 in cash, the officer said.
