UJVNL powerhouses achieve record generation amid Covid

The month of July has been an important month for UJVNL in view of power generation. UJVN Limited’s Maneri Bhali-II and Mohammadpur powerhouses achieved record monthly generation in July this year. Apart from this, UJVNL also surpassed its generation target for July.

The UJVN Limited managing director Sandeep Singhal said that amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Dharasu powerplant of Maneri Bhali-II Hydro Electric Project situated on the Bhagirathi river in the border district of Uttarkashi generated 208.95 million units of energy in the month of July which is the highest ever generation in a month of this project since its commissioning.

As per available records the previous highest ever generation of any month of this project was 206.44 million units which was done in June 2016. The previous highest ever generation of July was 192.16 million units which was done in July 2011.   Singhal further said that Mohammadpur powerplant situated on Upper Ganga Canal in Haridwar district generated 5.312 million units of energy in the month of July this year which is the highest ever generation of this powerplant for the month of July in any year. The previous highest ever generation of July month of this project was 4.842 million units which was done in July 2019.

Singhal also informed that overall UJVNL’s power plants also exceeded the monthly target of 584.500 million units by generating a total of 608.422 million units of power in the month of July which is 23.922 million units higher than the monthly target.

He congratulated the officials and employees of UJVNL and said that despite the worldwide spread of Covid 19 the record generation shows the dedication and hardwork of the corporation employees.
