UP Shia Waqf Board chief slam Owaisi

Friday, 07 August 2020 | PNS | Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board chairman Syed Waseem Rizvi on Thursday slammed All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi for his comments on the commencement of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Rizvi said the Hyderabad MP should move to Pakistan and let the Muslims in India live peacefully.

The Shia Waqf Board chairman asked the AIMIM chief to keep silence on the issue of Ram temple in Ayodhya as the Supreme Court had delivered its judgement on the disputed issue.

He said the apex court ruling as per the Indian Constitution had paved the way for the construction of Ram temple, which was due for several centuries.

Rizvi asked Owaisi to stop promoting hatred among the two communities by his provocative statements as it could lead to communal discord, violence and bloodshed.

“Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar and former al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden have been killed, Pakistan and Afghanistan need you. Let the Muslims in India live peacefully,” Rizvi said.

The Shia Waqf Board chairman’s sharp reactions came a day after Owaisi said, “Today is the day of victory of Hindutva and majoritarianism and defeat of democracy and secularism”.

The AIMIM chief made the comment while referring to the bhoomi pujan for Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The Hyderabad MP on Wednesday had also said that “by attending the ground-breaking ceremony in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not only laid the foundation of a Mandir but also the foundation of a Hindu Rashtra”.

Ending the wait of centuries, PM Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He along with several revered saints and priests from across the country performed the bhoomi pujan for the temple at the spot where Hindus believe Lord Ram was born.
