In a shocking incident, a man pronounced instant talaq to his wife for refusing to dance and wear jeans and later torched himself at his in-laws place in Meerut on Tuesday night.
However, the man was saved by his in-laws and the police were informed.
As per reports, New Ismailnagar resident Amiruddin married off his daughter eight years ago to Anas of Pilkhua (Hapur), who used to work in Delhi.
The woman alleged that Anas forced her to dance and sing which often led to squabbles between the couple. Fed up with the husband, she even approached a local panchayat but failed to get a solution.
On Tuesday, Anas pronounced triple talaq to his wife and later headed to his in-laws’ place where he set himself afire. The harried in-laws raised an alarm, doused the flame and rushed him to a hospital with serious burns.
The Lisari Gate police station was informed about the incident and a probe was underway to find out whether there was any other motive that led the man to immolate himself.
