Woman abducted, raped  and murdered in Etawah

A 22-year-old woman was abducted, raped and later murdered in Etawah. Her body was found lying in a pond on Tuesday morning. 

The police registered a case and sent the body for autopsy. 

According to reports received here, a girl hailing from Paharpur hamlet of Lavedi in Etawah went to attend the call of nature last Friday. 

When she did not return home, the family members searched for her and after failing to find her they lodged a report about her disappearance the next day. 

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Omveer Singh said a search was launched for the woman but she could not be traced.

On Tuesday morning, a villager saw the body of  the woman lying in the pond and informed the family about it. After identifying the body, the family members informed the local police about it. 

The family suspects that someone abducted the woman, raped her and later threw her body in the pond after killing her. 

Further investigations are on in this regard.

Meanwhile, a dog owner was stabbed to death by three miscreants after his pet barked at them.

The incident took place in Sitapur district on Sunday night. 

The accused used a knife to brutally stab the 25-year-old man, identified as Sachin Kumar. Kumar of Kasba bazaar area in Sidhauli. 

Two of the accused managed to evade arrest while one of them was nabbed by the police. 

The accused were identified as Uma, Rohit and Govind.

Reports said Kumar was walking with his dog on Sunday night when the three accused intercepted him. When Kumar’s dog started barking at the three men, they flew into a rage and attacked Kumar with a knife, critically injuring him.

Kumar’s two brothers — Sonu and Sunil — rushed to his rescue when they heard his cries for help but were allegedly thrashed by the three accused. Following this, some locals came to Kumar’s rescue but the accused managed to escape.

Kumar and his brothers were taken to the local community health centre where Kumar was pronounced dead.

In another incident, a close friend of a groom received a bullet injury in the stomach during celebratory firing at the wedding in Amroha. The incident took place in Mandaihyo village on Monday. 

The accused, identified as Abid Ahmed, who came from the bride’s side, was arrested.

The groom’s friend, Mohd Firoz, was admitted to a hospital in critical condition and later referred to the Meerut medical college hospital for treatment. 

Firoz received the bullet injury when Abid Ahmed started firing from his gun during the function.

Saidangali SHO Rajeev Sharma said, “Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The accused has been arrested. Some reports claimed that Firoz and Ahmed had got into an altercation and the latter shot at the groom’s friend. We are investigating all aspects of the case.”
