In a bizarre case, a 26-year-old woman ended her life by consuming poison in front of her lover’s house in Muzaffarnagar on Tuesday. 

The victim alleged that she was sexually exploited by her lover who had vowed to tie the knot with her but later declined, police said. 

The doctors pronounced the woman  dead after she was taken to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, the woman consumed poison outside the man’s residence just before he was about to marry another woman after ditching the victim. 

The victim first lodged an FIR against the man on November 20 in which she alleged that they were in love for the past seven months, Ramraj Police Station House Officer Satyendra Nagar said.

In the FIR, the 26-year-old had also alleged that the man raped her by promising that he would marry her but refused to do so, the SHO said. 

As soon as the victim came to know that the man was going to marry another woman on Tuesday evening (November 24), she went to the man’s village in Jamalpur and killed herself by consuming poison outside his residence, police said. 

The man was taken into custody on the charges of rape and a probe is underway. The body was sent for post-mortem. 

Meanwhile, one person was stabbed to death under mysterious circumstances in Julahpurwa area of Ahirauli Bazaar in Kushinagar. 

On Tuesday evening, the victim prepared sweets for the tilak ceremony of his niece scheduled for Thursday but was found murdered in the wee hours of Wednesday. 

Reports said that Kunj Bihari Maurya went to his brother Shankar’s house in his neighbourhood where sweets had been prepared for the tilak ceremony of his daughter. He called Shankar’s wife Shanti but both were shocked when they found Shankar lying dead. 

His clothes were soaked in blood and it appeared that someone hit a blunt object on his head and brutally stabbed him to death. 

Shankar’s son Ajay Lal Maurya lodged a report in this regard naming one Ramniwas Singh, residing in the same locality. 

Ajay alleged that his father had an old enmity with the accused. 

SP Kushinagar, Vinod Kumar Singh, said they were trying to nab the accused to interrogate him and find out the motive behind the killing.
