World Toilet Day: Prizes worth Rs 4.35 cr distributed

nOn the World Toilet Day, Chhattisgarh Rural Development and Panchayat Minister T.S. Singh Deo on Thursday distributed prizes worth Rs 4.35 crore for outstanding performance in sanitation under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).

During the virtual prize distribution ceremony conducted from his official residence in Raipur, Singh Deo awarded certificates, trophies and cash prizes worth Rs 4.35 crore to people and organizations who performed exceptionally well in 15 categories of sanitation, an official press release said.

“For the formation of a good society we need a pollution free environment and in making this happen sanitation workers played a great role,” Singh Deo said during the ceremony. 

Mentioning about a better waste management system, he called for no plastic use in view of the damage caused by plastic to the environment.

The Minister also spoke about the use of sanitary pads and lauded women SHGs working for ‘menstruation sanitation management’ at the gram panchayat level.
