A day after Samajwadi Party and Congress observed the 70th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Berojgar Diwas, the Yogi Adityanath government on Friday directed all government departments to give details of vacancies immediately and asked the recruitment boards to prepare themselves for large-scale recruitment within three months.

The government, which will go to the polls in the next 16 months, has fixed the target to give appointment letters in the next six months.

The chief minister, while holding a meeting here on Friday, directed all departments to give details of the vacant posts so that the process to fill them up could be started.

“We have to fill these vacancies like we did by giving jobs to over three lakh people during this regime in a transparent way,” he said.

Over one lakh government posts are vacant in the state.

Though there is a proposal to appoint the government employees on contract for five years and then only confirm them, it is yet to be approved.

During the his 3-year-5-month rule in UP, the Yogi Adityanath government has appointed 50,000 primary teachers, 37,000 police constables and over one lakh government  employees besides over one lakh appointments in other government sectors.

During the lockdown period, the UP government had provided jobs to over one crore migrant workers.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president and MLC Vijay  Bahadur Pathak thanked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for taking the decision to make such massive appointments.

“No governments in the past has taken such a decision to provide such large-scale appointments,” Pathak said, adding that the past appointments in this regime were done in a transparent way.
