nChhattisgarh Police on Wednesday seized 32.46 kg of cannabis valued at `3.24 lakh and arrested a 21-year-old man in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district who was taking it from Odisha to Raipur.
Gariaband Additional Superintendent of Police Sukhnanddan Rathore told The Pioneer over telephone that the arrested man, Lavdeep Deol, is a resident of Bhilai.
The action was taken based on a tip that the contraband was being transported to Raipur from Odisha via the Gariaband National Highway NH-130C.
The police swung into action and a SUV (CG-04, CZ-2700) was intercepted near the Kosambuda Chowk in the Chhura police station limits, the officer added.
The police seized the cannabis from the SUV. A mobile phone, some cash and the SUV have also been seized, Rathore said.
