Youth on dharna at in-laws' house to get back wife

Tuesday, 14 July 2020 | PNS | KENDRAPADA

Demanding return of his wife to him, a youth on Monday staged a dharna in front of his in-laws’ house at Baro village under the Nikirai police station.

Asit Das had a love affair with neighbourly girl, Sraddhanjali Parida, daughter of Kulamani Parida. Later, Asit and Sraddhanjali had their registered marriage last year. But Sraddhanjali's parents slyly took her to their house by assuring Asit that they would organise Sraddhanjali's marriage with him, after the marriage of Sraddhanjali's elder would be completed.

But for last three months,  the family members of Sraddhanjali allegedly were delaying the marriage and also forced Sraddhanjali to terminate her relation with Asit.

However, when Asit came to know that the family members of Sraddhanjali were slyly planning to marry her off elsewhere, Asit on Monday staged the dharana demanding that his wife be handed over to him.

He also threatened to commit suicide by consuming poison if Sraddhanjali's family did not concede.

When contacted, Nikirai police station IIC  Kabuli Barik informed that the police were yet to receive a complaint in this regard.
