Thursday, 06 August 2020 | Pioneer

Coronavirus is a global crisis and the biggest challenge which the world is facing today. From the world’s most sophisticated healthcare systems to the world’s largest spending healthcare system, every country is affected by the pandemic and still struggling to control it. The world is yet to come up with any targeted cure for it. In the absence of a vaccine, plasma therapy is being looked upon as a potential treatment. Moving ahead in the direction of plasma therapy, Northern Railway Central Hospital, New Delhi, performed the first COVID Convalescent Plasma donation. The donor was a COVID warrior, post graduate medical student.

Rajiv Chaudhry, General Manager, Northern and North Central Railways, informed that the plasma availability at Northern Railway Central Hospital (NRCH) will definitely help in treating the critical COVID railway beneficiaries and will make the railways self reliant in plasma treatment.
