Lt-Gen Devendra Pratap Pandey Wednesday assumed command of the Srinagar-based strategic Chinar Corps on Wednesday.
Lt Gen BS Raju, who is set to take over the charge of Director General Military Operations (DGMO) in New Delhi handed over the baton to him at a simple ceremony in the 15 Corps headquarters.
Lt-Gen Pandey is joining the crucial posting at a time when almost all the security parameters remain under control and the security forces are enjoying an upper hand after eliminating top leadership of the different terror outfits in the recent months.
Soon after taking over the charge Lt-Gen Pandey paid homage at the Chinar Corps Memorial at Badami Bagh in Srinagar. He also conveyed his best wishes to the people of Kashmir. In a press statement, Defence spokesman said, "Lt-Gen Pandey addressed and interacted with troops of Chinar Corps and exhorted them to continue to work with unflinching dedication and perseverance ‘in pursuit of Peace and Stability in Kashmir’. He asked for all combatants to take extra steps required to connect with citizens in order to jointly work towards the common cause.
