Delhi Govt resends doorstep scheme file to LG for nod

Wednesday, 06 October 2021 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi on Tuesday again sent the file on the proposal of doorstep delivery of ration scheme to Lieutenant Governor Anil Bijal for his approval.

The development came after the Delhi High Court on September 27 allowed the City Government to stop supplying food grains to fair price shops  for those who have chosen doorstep delivery option over the physical collection. The scheme has been stalled due to differences between the Delhi Government and the Centre.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “Lieutenant Governor should approve the implementation of the decision of the Delhi Cabinet so that the people of Delhi can get the doorstep delivery of ration soon. The Delhi High Court has cleared the way for the implementation of the doorstep delivery scheme and the Delhi Government will sincerely follow the directions given by the High Court regarding the promotion of the scheme.”

Kejriwal said he hopes the LG will give his approval.

Earlier, the CM had said, “People are asking if pizza, burger, smartphone and clothes can be home delivered then why cannot the poor citizens of Delhi get their share of ration home delivered?”

He blasted ration mafia claiming the entire doorstep delivery scheme will be instrumental in disbanding it.
