HC lifts stay on Char Dham Yatra with conditions

Friday, 17 September 2021 | PNS | Nainital

The Uttarakhand High Court has lifted the stay it had ordered earlier on the Char Dham Yatra in the State. It has allowed the Government to facilitate the pilgrimage while also putting a cap on the number of pilgrims allowed to visit the shrines on a daily basis in view of the Covid-19 situation.

Hearing on the petition while considering the affidavit submitted by the State Government, the division bench of Chief Justice RS Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma directed the State Government to consider specific aspects before facilitating the Char Dham Yatra.

The court has permitted 800 pilgrims to visit Kedarnath per day, 1,000 in Badrinath, 600 in Gangotri and 400 in Yamunotri per day.

The pilgrims should either have an RT-PCR negative report or a double vaccination certificate.
