The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday took over the case of seizure of 2,988.21 kg of narcotics at Mundra Port, Gujarat.
The case relates to seizure of 2,c988.21 kg of narcotics substance (heroin) disguised as consignment of “Semi-processed Talc stones” originating from Afghanistan. The consignment had arrived from Bandar Abbas Port, Iran.
The move comes as DRI probe so far has pointed to terror funding through narco trade which could have a bearing on national security, sources said.
The nearly 3,000 kg of high grade narcotics seized from the Mundra port is estimated to be valued at over Rs 21,000 crore in the international market, they added.
