In this bi-monthly, online poetry showcase, our foremost aim stands to be able to allow the performers a real-time experience of being keenly listened to in a literary environment. The event encompasses a versatile ensemble of creative voices and a wide array of perspectives that will leave you inspired. People outside the world of poetry can join in as an audience to witness a poetically rich evening from the comfort of their homes. Rat - a Digital Performance
Bertolt Brecht’s radical text 'Fear and Misery of The Third Reich' is a disquieting vision of how authoritarianism percolates into people’s lives. Our project reimagines parts of this work by seeing it through the lens of the objects that populate the text's world.
‘Rat' explores how the information we share with others defines our relationship with them, how our ability to feel secure in our homes depends upon the words that leave our mouths, sometimes unknowingly. What are the dynamics of information and information sharing in private relationships? It probes into the machinery of surveillance- its designers, its channels and its subjects.
In essence, 'Rat' is an inquiry into how these pre-existing undemocratic structures within our homes inform and enable oppressive structures to thrive outside of them.
