The “asthi visarjan” rituals (immersion of ashes in river) of 200 people who died due to Covid-19 were performed on Tuesday here in Raipur after the families failed to collect them.
The rituals were performed by Congress leader Vinod Tiwari and his team at Mahadev Ghat with the permission of Raipur Collector Saurabh Kumar.
Tiwari said the administration has performed the last rites of hundreds of known and unknown people in the last few months and collected the ashes for immersion but nobody came forward for the rituals.
