Chhattisgarh Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo on Tuesday urged Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to administer booster doses to priority groups against Covid-19.
“Health experts in the country and abroad are advocating booster dose as the antibody level after Covid vaccine is nullified or ends after six to nine months,” he said.
“Though the experts accept that the anti-Covid-19 vaccine provides protective level in persons who have got both the doses, there is a desperate need for booster dose for frontline and healthcare workers as well as senior citizens,” he said in a letter.
Keeping in view the effect of the third and fourth waves, various countries are administrating booster doses, the Minister said.
The Union Minister had recently said that adequate stocks are available and the aim is to complete the vaccination of the target population with two doses.
After that, a decision on booster dose would be taken.
