The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), which held a huge meeting on occasion of Saheed Divas at the Khallikote College ground here on Saturday to commemorate the completion of 100 years of Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Brahmapur, used the occasion to slam the BJD and the BJP.
Addressing the meeting, Odisha party in-charg Chella Kumar lashed out at the State Government and said it has failed in all fronts. In the name of ‘Mo Sarkar’ and 5T, the BJD is fooling and exploiting the public, he alleged. Kumar also came down heavily on the State BJP and questioned why it is not demanding a CBI inquiry into the 5T initiative. He said the Congress is going to form the Government in Odisha in 2024.
PCC president Niranjan Patnaik urged the party workers and the people to throw the ruling BJD out of power for its gross ‘misrule’ in the State.
Criticising the NDA Government at the Centre, Patnaik said that the saffron party is good at making false promises to people before the elections and demanded that the three farm laws should be repealed immediately. Narasingha Mishra said though Bijubabu was a great freedom fighter, his son Naveen Patnaik is unfortunately supporting the BJP led Union Government in each and every matter which is not in public interest.
Ganjam district Congress president Ramesh Jena i said if the cost of petrol and diesel is not reduced at least by Rs. 10 per litre, the Congress would embark on a agitation. He said the party will carry out demonstrations and rallies at block, NAC and municipalities in the State. The party would also hold an Odisha Bandh on February 15 to protest the rising fuel prices.
Among others, Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati; former PCC presidents Jaydev Jena and Sarat Pattnaik; AICC secretary Rudra Raju; Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinpati Khariar MLA Adhiraj Panigrahi; Jatni MLA Suresh Kumar Routray; Mohana MLA Dasarathi Gamango and other leaders were present. Former Banki ML Debasis Pattnaik coordinated the meeting.
