Saturday, 24 July 2021 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

As part of reforms in higher education, the State Government on Friday added ‘Environmental Study and Disaster Management’ to the syllabus of undergraduate (UG) programme.

The new subject will be mandatory for +3 First Year students in Arts, Science and Commerce streams. The four-unit syllabus will carry 100 marks in the first semester examination.

Notably, at a State Cabinet meeting on May 29, 2021, it was decided to introduce ‘disaster and pandemic preparedness’ as part of the curriculum in schools and colleges. Accordingly, the Higher Education Department has revised the existing model syllabus ‘Environmental

Science’ as ‘Environmental Study and Disaster Management‘, an official release stated on Friday.

The revised syllabus would be introduced in undergraduate courses from this academic session, informed Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo.
