Even as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been embarking on a series of projects to make Puri a world-class tourism centre, Union Minister for Petroleum and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan said here on Sunday that the Modi Government has allocated Rs 175 crore for improving livelihoods, income generation of people and an all-round development of Srikshetra Puri.
Besides, projects worth Rs 27 crore under the CSR activities of the Petroleum and Steel Ministries are also earmarked for Puri, said he.
Pradhan was inaugurating a redesigned Kalyan Mandap at Baseli Sahi Muli Jagga and laying foundation stones of a Community Centre at the Jhadeswari Club and a Community Hall at Bali Sahi Hinjili Jagga in the town.
The GAIL Gas Limited and the MOIL Limited have provided Rs 1.5 crore for the purposes. “We all should make sincere efforts to make Puri a modern city and ensure that people here get clean fuel,” Pradhan said and thanked the cooperation extended by the Petroleum and Steel Ministries to convert Puri as green and beautiful city.
