Nalanda Parisar, a high-tech library popular with students in Raipur, has been converted into a contact tracing center, the authorities said on Sunday.
A contact tracing center is already functioning at the new circuit house in Raipur, Additional Collector and nodal officer Padmini Bhoi said in a press release.
“We are taking contact history of at least 20 people who have come in direct contact with a Covid positive patient,” Padmini Bhoi said.
Raipur has emerged as the most severe Covid hotspot in Chhattisgarh.
The Health Department said 3,797 fresh Covid cases were reported in Raipur on Saturday.
By Saturday, there were 21,329 active cases in Raipur district and 1,155 Covid patients had died. Durg is the second worst hit city and saw 2,272 fresh cases on Saturday.
The nodal officer appealed to Covid patients to provide their correct name, address and mobile number at the Covid testing center. People living around a Covid patient are at the most risk of catching infection. Also, people who have come in contact with Covid positives may get the infection, she said.
"Through contact tracing, we can break the Covid chain," she said. "Some people during Covid test give false contact numbers and address which is dangerous not only for them but for society as well."
