The railway engineers known as backbone of Indian Railways are neglected but other cadres are upgraded. Due to this engineers are frustrated and their talents are surpassed, said East Coast Railway Engineers Association (ECoREA) president Er Babin Mohanty. He was speaking in a seminar organised by ECoREA on the occasion of Engineers’ Day, which was held by the association in virtual mode on Wednesday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya
Mohanty demanded that the status of railway engineers with justified pay structures, promotional avenue and recognition of their federation are to be considered on top priority.
Chief guest and Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti Er Bishweswar Tudu told that for becoming good engineer, all should follow the path of M Visvesvaraya. He told that ministers, engineers & executives play a key role for nation’s buildings.He assured the engineers present in the webinar that he along with the delegates of association would discuss with Railway Minister and Finance Minister to accord justice to Railway engineers and for betterment of railways.
Chief Speaker and Senior Deputy General Manager of South Eastern Railway Er Sankarsan Nayak underscored the need to implement new technology in Indian Railways.
General secretary of the association Er BP Dash said that the Railways is going to adopt different proposals i.e. joint venture with State Governments, PPP mode, etc. to raise the fund for modernisation programme.He urged that the number of Group-B posts should be more that Group-A posts as followed in other ministries for smooth running of organisation More than 400 engineers from East Coast Railway and other zones participated in the virtual meeting. Er KP Dash and Er Dusasan Sahoo organised the online meeting.
