With a record supply of 1,011 metric tonnes of oxygen in the state in the past 24 hours, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that all districts are being supplied the life-saving oxygen as per requirement.
“Of the total supply of 1,011 MT oxygen, 632 MT was supplied to refillers and 301 MT to medical colleges. Oxygen availability is getting better in larger and higher transition rates districts like Varanasi, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Kanpur. A new train with eight tankers reached Lucknow on Tuesday. There is already a Jeevan Rakshak Express with 10 tankers parked in Lucknow railway station,” he said.
Yogi further said, “As per the need of districts, oxygen would be distributed. Apart from Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, special focus needs to be given to districts with high infection rates. Oxygen supply should be made by making separate action plans for all the districts."
“Besides global tenders have been floated for cryogenic tankers while some tankers are also being provided by the Centre. Additional tankers have been received from Reliance Industries. The number of tankers is increasing steadily, this has helped to improve oxygen supply,” he said.
The CM said there was a need to improve oxygen supply to the patients in home isolation. The fluid was made available to Covid patients undergoing home isolation, suspected patients, non-Covid patients suffering from severe disease, or any one who needed oxygen as per medical consultation,” he said.
“A necessary guideline in this regard should be issued today itself. All districts must ensure adequate supply of oxygen to home isolated patients. In view of the report of oxygen audit, the balance in supply and distribution of the fluid should be made,” Yogi said.
The CM said that the chief secretary should continue to monitor oxygen plants being set up by the Union government. “Sugarcane Development and Excise departments have also been giving support in oxygen production and supply. The process has been initiated to set up an oxygen plant in 70 districts,” he said.
Yogi directed officials to review the functioning of oxygen plants to be set up in Health and Medical Education departments on a daily basis. “Oxygen plants were also being set up by the private sector and they should be provided all necessary facilities as per rules,” he said.
