A total of 109,869 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the 18-44 age category in Chhattisgarh, and 50,105 of them are in the Antyodaya category.

The vaccination is on in 483 centres in the state, Dr Subash Mishra, Director (Epidemic), told the media on Monday.

He said that till May 9, the state has vaccinated 59.36 lakh people in all.

Out of the 3.39 lakh health workers, 3.02 lakh have been vaccinated; against a target of 2.93 lakh frontline workers, 2.99 lakh have been vaccinated.

In the 45-plus category, against a target of 58.66 lakh citizens, 43.31 lakh have been administered the vaccine.

Thus, the coverage percentage in the three categories is 89 percent, 102 percent and 74 percent respectively.  In the 18-44 age category, 1.09 lakh people have been vaccinated.

The positivity rate in Chhattisgarh has further dropped to 19 percent, he said.

He said in a few districts like Surguja, Gariaband, Sukma and Narayanpur, there has been an increase in the number of positive cases. But in 24 districts, the positive cases were lower compared to other days.

Dr Mishra said Chhattisgarh has recorded 1.3 percent wastage, which is lower than the national average of 6 percent.

He said a directive has been given to the vaccination teams to open a vial only when 10 people reach the centre. This will help reduce the wastage further.
