2,700 Covid cases in Punjab, 43 deaths

Punjab on Thursday reported 2,700 fresh Covid-19 cases, pushing the State’s coronavirus count to 2,22,937, of which 21,405 are active and 1,95,015 have recovered so far.

With 43 more Covid-positive patients succumbing to the deadly contagion, the State’s death toll has reached 6,517 at the rate of 2.92 per cent.

Of the total fatalities, maximum 11 were reported from Jalandhar, followed by eight from Nawanshahr, seven from Ludhiana, and six from Hoshiarpur.

Two deaths each were reported from Amritsar, Mohali, Patiala, and Tarn Taran; while one casualty each were reported from Sangrur, Ferozepur, and Gurdaspur.

Among the districts, Jalandhar reported the highest 413 fresh infections, followed by Ludhiana with 340, Mohali with 321, Amritsar with 297, Gurdaspur with 233, Patiala with 231, Hoshiarpur with 217, Bathinda with 99, Moga with 83, Ferozepur with 69, Pathankot with 50, Nawanshahr with 49, Barnala with 46, Muktsar with 40, Fazilka with 38, Ropar and Sangrur with 37 each, Fatehgarh Sahib with 31, Faridkot with 30, Kapurthala with 19, Mansa with 16, and Tarn Taran with four fresh cases.
