Two persons went missing after a fishing boat capsized in the Mahanadi mouth near the Nehru Bungalow here on Sunday. The boat named ‘Maa Ramchandi’ had seven fishermen on board. Five of the fishermen were rescued by the crew of another boat which was behind them. According to local residents, the mishap might have been caused due to high current in the overflowing river. Kamal Suribabu, Palati L, GK Krishna, K Paparao and G Tatarao were rescued. The mishap occurred when the boat was returning to shore, Though due to the adverse weather conditions , fishermen were warned not to venture into sea, they had gone for fishing. None of them were wearing the life jackets which are mandatory, said sources.
