2 kingpins held for forging age-proof documents

Monday, 12 April 2021 | PNS | BRAHMAPUR

Police here have arrested two kingpins in an age-proof certificate forging case found in an Indian Army recruitment rally held at the Bhanja Vihar Airstrip.

The arrested persons were Raghabendra Academy, Gandhingar, Brahmapur chief S Shankar Rao and one M Labanya Kumar.

They were held basing on the information of seven candidates for allegedly forging documents relating to their matriculation certificates to prove their age.

The fraud was detected by the Army Recruitment Officer of Gopalpur, who during scrutiny of documents found that the youths possessed two separate Class-X certificates issued by two different boards of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.  Police during probe found that the accused had earlier applied for jobs with the Indian Army by showing certificates issued by the Board of Secondary Education, Cuttack.

But they could not qualify as the date of birth on the certificate proved they had exceeded the age limit for the recruitment examination.

They then took admission in the National Institute of Open Schooling and got another certificate for Class-X with a different date of birth which qualified them for the examination.

Since the details of candidates are stored in Army database, it was easy to verify the documents during scrutiny and detect frauds if any.
