21 districts to face water crisis due to scanty rainfall

Unlike regions facing severe rainfall creating havoc in the State, there are 21 districts which are yet to receive normal rain in the season and could face water crisis in the later part of the year.

Warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for 17 districts in the State and Meteorological  Department has issued orange and yellow alerts, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. After over a week clear sky became visible in the afternoon which remained for short time and later dense cloud cover was witnessed and it rained.

On Friday rainfall was witnessed which was intermittent and provide little respite from continuous rainfall prevailed for past few days. The orange alert which means heavy to very heavy rain - measuring between 64.5 and 204 mm has been issued for  Vidisha, Raisen, Rajgarh, Guna and Ashok Nagar districts.

The yellow alert which means heavy rainfall - ranging from 64.5 to 115.5 mm) has been issued Sehore, Shajapur, Agar-Malwa, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Shivpuri, Datia, Sheopur, Seoni, Sagar, Tikamgarh and Niwari districts.

The weather department has forecast rain or thundershowers at most places in districts falling under nine divisions, including State capital Bhopal and Jabalpur.

Met told that weather conditions would prevail till Saturday morning. A lower pressure area was lying over central parts of north Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood areas.

Madhya Pradesh has been battered by very heavy rainfall in the past few weeks. In the last 24 hours, almost entire State received interment rainfall. Guna district in the Gwalior division received 156 mm rainfall till Friday afternoon.
