3-day Gangaur Utsav held online

Gangaur Utsav, a three-day festival of arts associated with the ritualism and folk tradition of Gangaur, is being organized by Tribal Folk Arts and Language Development Academy. The event began on Friday online.

The local tradition of Shiva and Shakti is prominently found in the folk and community of Madhya Pradesh. On the first day of Gangaur festival Gangaur dance by Sadhna Upadhyay of Khandwa and Gangaur dance by Jaswant Bharve of Dindori and Gudumbaja were performed. It was broadcast on the department's YouTube channel.

Gangaur dance was performed by Sadhna Upadhyay and group, in which the artists gave dance performances on five Badhawa..., O Saiba..., Karan Kasturi..., Ratnapur Si..., Hariya Javra...,. In the presentation, the artists presented the greetings given before the arrival of the mother, the traditional aarti of Gangaur Mata's Nimari and the scenes of the Jaware sown with her welcome. Next dance performance Hey Saiba..., River ki dho dhad..., Makh lai do sab shringar..., Ranu Bai's palm sweeping in the courtyard.

In singing, Sadhna Upadhyay, Sangeet Gangrade, Gauri Shankar Sen and Vikas Gurjar on Harmonium, Manoj Savner on Dholak, Jitendra Gurjaran on Dhol accompanied the singer.

Gangaur folk festival is celebrated in the month of Chait and Vaisakh in Nimar, Bhuana and Malwa provinces. In this, Pavli of Mother Gangaur is called on the first day and for nine days she is served by keeping jewels in the name of Mother.
