After a 2-day lull, Covid deaths breached the 300-mark again with 306 patients succumbing to the deadly virus in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours. As many as 20,463 new cases were reported while 29,358 patients recovered in the same period.
With the Covid graph on decline, the recovery rate is getting better and the positive rate is going down, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said while interacting with his Team-9 members on Tuesday.
He said planned campaigns with the policy of trace, test, and treat are yielding good results. “On April 30, there were 3,10,783 active Covid cases in the state, whereas today it has been reduced by more than 95,000. At present, there are 2,16,057 active cases. The state’s recovery rate is continuously getting better. So far, over 13.13 lakh people have successfully won the battle against corona,” the CM said.
In the last 24 hours, 2,33,705 samples were tested, including 1,10,000 RT-PCR tests. So far, 4,34,04,184 samples have been tested in the state.
Meanwhile, Meerut’s daily case count remained the highest on the second consecutive day. The district recorded 1,368 fresh cases, followed by Gautam Buddha Nagar (1,229), Lucknow (1,154), and Bareilly & Saharanpur (959 each).
In terms of deaths, Lucknow’s tally was the highest at 23, followed by Kanpur (16), Gautam Buddha Nagar & Jhansi (12 each), Agra & Azamgarh (11 each) and Basti (10).
