The Covid control mechanism in Uttar Pradesh got a further boost as 35 districts became free of coronavirus infection with active as well as fresh cases declining to zero and the state reported only 17 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.
“No fresh and active cases in Aligarh, Amethi, Amroha, Auraiya, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Ballia, Balrampur, Banda, Basti, Bahraich, Bhadohi, Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Chitrakoot, Etah, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hardoi, Hathras, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Mahoba, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Pratapgarh, Rampur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Shravasti, Siddharth Nagar and Sultanpur indicates complete eradication of the deadly coronavirus from over 46 per cent of the state,” said a senior government official on Friday.
“With highest testing, highest recovery rate, lowest test positivity rate and aggressive vaccination, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a clear winner in combating the coronavirus as the state’s Covid situation shows a healthier picture in comparison to all other states,” he added.
In what comes as a big relief, none of the 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh have reported fresh cases of coronavirus infection in double digits lately. As many as 64 districts reported no fresh case of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Out of the 1.91 lakh odd samples tested in the last 24 hours, 17 tested positive for novel coronavirus infection and as a result the test positivity rate (TPR) slumped to 0.01 per cent in Uttar Pradesh. Fresh cases in the state have remained below 100 for nearly 68 consecutive days.
Meanwhile, another 16 COVID-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, adding to the recovery of over 16.86 lakh people so far. Also, the active caseload in the most populous state which was at a high of 3.10 lakh in April has come down to 191 now, whereas states like Kerala and Maharashtra account for heavy active caseload of 1,86,231 and 49,342 respectively.
