5th Sikh Premier League Cricket from Apr 16

Tuesday, 06 April 2021 | PNS | Jamshedpur

The fifth edition of the three-day Sikh Premier League (SPL) cricket will be held from 16 to 18 April under the aegis of the Sikh Youth Federation at the local Armoury ground.

The members of the SPL Organising Committee held a meeting on Sunday and decided to successfully organise the league keeping in mind the Covid 19 guidelines. Giving information about the tournament, president of the Federation and chairman of the Organising Committee, Satnam Singh Gambhir said that this is the first cricket competition of its kind in the whole of Eastern India which is organised only for Sikhs.

Sikh youths wait eagerly for this cricket league throughout the year. He further said that the federation also gives full opportunity to the Sikhs to refine their sports talent. Gambhir said that the Covid 19 guidelines implemented by the administration will be fully adhered to during the tournament.

Baljit Sansoa, the founding member of the competition said that religious programs are organised for Sikhs in Jamshedpur but no special sports competition is organised for Sikh youth. Keeping this in mind, the federation established this league for Sikh youth so that Sikh youth can get a platform in the field of sports. Inder Singh Inder said that all the players of the team must be Sikhs to participate in this league.
