72 per cent PMGSY roads sanctioned for 2020-21 finished

With the feat of achieving first position at the national level in implementation of the PMGSY for last four consecutive years, Odisha has kept up the high rate of implementation in the current year also beating all the adversities of Covid-19 pandemic. This was ascertained at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra here on Tuesday.It was revealed that 72% of PMGSY roads sanctioned for 2020-21 has been completed.  Reviewing the progress made so far, Mohapatra directed the Collectors, Superintendents of Police and Executive Engineers of the concerned districts to prepare project-wise micro-plan against each project, more particularly for the project in Leftwing-affected areas. The Chief Secretary also directed the district administrations to provide all support to the contractors working in those remote areas. The issues relating to availability of materials, mobilisation of machinery and engagement of more manpower were discussed and resolved in the meeting. Director General of Police Abhay, participating in the discussion through videoconference assured that police are all set for providing any ground level support.

Development Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena said, “Road connectivity is a prime focus area of Government and there is no problem of funding for projects under various schemes.”.A target was set to complete PMGSY roads by end of March 2021.
