8 more Covid-19 deaths, 225 fresh cases in Punjab

Eight more people succumbed to coronavirus, taking the toll to 5609 in Punjab on Saturday, while the infection tally rose to 1,73,084 with 225 new cases, a health bulletin said.  There are 2184 active cases and the number of recoveries rose to 1,65,291 as 146 more patients recuperated, according to the bulletin.

Among the new 225 cases, SAS Nagar reported 38 infections, Ludhiana 32, Bathinda 27 and Jalandhar 26. Six critical patients are on ventilator support, while 86 are on oxygen support, the bulletin said. A total of 44,63,437 samples have been collected for testing so far, it said.

97 FRESH CASES, 2 DEATHS IN HARYANA

Haryana on Saturday recorded 97 new coronavirus cases, while two more persons died from the virus on the day. The total number of fatalities in the State rose to 3,017, according to the State Health bulletin. The 97 fresh cases included 35 from Gurugram, 15 from Faridabad and 10 from Panchkula district. The total number of infections reported in the state so far have now risen to 2,67,805, the bulletin said.  The number of active cases in the state is 1134, while as many as 2,63,654 people have recovered. The recovery rate is 98.45 per cent, it stated.

17 NEW CASES IN CHANDIGARH

Chandigarh on Saturday reported 17 new coronavirus cases, taking the infection count to 20,899, according to a medical bulletin.  No death was reported on Saturday and the toll stands at 334. There are 151 active cases as of now, as per bulletin. A total of 25 patients were discharged after they recovered from infection, taking the number of recuperated persons to 20,414.
