80% Class IX, 97% Class XI students pass

Wednesday, 23 June 2021 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

The Delhi Government on Tuesday declared the results for  the IX and XI grade in which 80.3 and 96.9 per cent of students were promoted respectively. The results were declared by the Directorate of Education (DOE) on the basis of mid-term exams, internal assessments and project-based assessments as announced by the Government earlier.

According to a statement released from the office of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, at least 2.58 lakh students were enrolled in IX grade in 2020-21, out of which 2.45 lakh appeared for mid-term exams and the final results of the students were collated based on mid-term tests and internal assessments. Last year, 65 per cent students of IX standard passed the exam while the figure increased to 85 per cent this year.

“Schools have also taken a step further and sent the results to students via WhatsApp and SMS. Considering that new guidelines were published by the DOE keeping in mind the security and safety of students, schools have sent the results to students via SMS and WhatsApp instead of calling them to school to collect them. Students can also access their results on the Directorate of Education’s website — edudel.nic.in,” the  statement said. It is worth noting that examinations of social studies, Sanskrit and third language for grade IX and subjects like geography and business studies for Grade XI could not be conducted for the year 2020-21.

The DOE further said that 12,500 students in grade IX and 3,500 students in grade XI did not appear for mid-term examinations this year.

“All those students who have not appeared for any exams will be eligible for re-assessment. The reassessment will be based on class-based assignments, project work and other assessments. Guidelines regarding re-assessment will be released soon,” it said.
