Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MCD in charge Durgesh Pathak accused the BJP ruled East Corporation of issuing tenders for the last five consecutive years to clean a non-functional drain constructed to solve the water-logging problem in areas around Swami Dayanand Hospital.
Pathak said that the Corporation has been spending lakhs of rupees every year in the name of cleaning of this non-functional drain for the last five years.
“The drain was fully complete by 2016 on paper but in reality, it was never functional. Even the contractor who was supposed to clean this drain wrote to the civic body in 2021, saying that there is nothing to clean because it is non-functional,” he said.
The AAP leader demanded immediate action against the alleged corruption.
