AAP to spread its wings to Gujarat

Tuesday, 15 June 2021 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI/ AHMEDABAD

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest all seats in the Gujarat State Assembly elections scheduled in 2022, the party's national convener Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday.

"The AAP will contest each and every seat in the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections. The AAP is a credible alternative to the BJP and the Congress. Gujarat will change soon," Kejriwal said while inaugurating the party’s office in Ahmedabad.

Kejriwal who landed in the State on Monday, paid a visit to the famous Krishna temple after which he held a press conference and welcomed Isudan, a journalist into the party.

“The people of Gujarat played a very important role in the Indian Independence movement. The biggest leaders of the country belonged to the land of Gujarat. At the time when the country got its Independence, it was divided into princely States. It was then that Sardar Patel took the effort to unify the country. After a great struggle, he unified the nation. But today the farmers of Gujarat are committing suicide even after 75 years of Independence and the condition of Government schools and Government hospitals is extremely poor,” he said.

The AAP convener further said that the State is suffering because of this friendship and alliance between the BJP and the Congress.

"The people of the State want to know why the electricity costs are so high in Gujarat while it is free in Delhi. Government-run schools andhospitals in Delhi are superb but why are they in a bad shape in Gujarat,” he said.“People here in Gujarat also observe that if electricity can be given 24x7 for free in Delhi, why is it so expensive in their State? If the hospitals and schools can be improved within five years in Delhi then why did it not happen here in Gujarat in the last 70 years,” he asked?
