Accord priority to education in district plans, says CM

The chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat has said that the school education would be given priority in the district plans during the ongoing financial year. He was undertaking a review meeting of the education department at state secretariat on Wednesday. The CM stressed that the officials should engage in out of the box thinking to improve education system in the state. “Take necessary corrective measures to improve the system, amend the rules wherever needed,’’ he directed the officials.

The CM said that facilities like drinking water, toilets, electricity, furniture and other equipment should be provided to all the schools and the campus should be clean and beautiful. He said that the officers should ensure that every student has textbooks and the schools have smart classrooms.

Rawat suggested that GPS based mobile application technology should be used for marking attendance of the teachers in the schools. He added that the plans at state level should be made for the students not covered under the centrally sponsored projects. While reviewing the progress of the Atal Utkrishta Vidhyalayas (AUV), the CM said that proper monitoring of these schools should be done and it should be ensured that work according to the rules are being done there. He also highlighted the need to focus on vocational education.

The meeting was attended by additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, secretary R Meenkashi Sundaram, secretary Sowjanya, Director General (DG) of school education Vinay Shankar Pandey, additional secretary Ravneet Cheema and officers of the education department.
