With Uttar Pradesh getting an additional 20 lakh doses of Covid vaccines, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that there is no paucity of vaccine in the state.
"The state now has an adequate stock of (Covid) vaccines to carry forward the vaccination drive. It is the time to save humanity and the government is committed to provide all help to the people," the chief minister said in a message here on Sunday.
Sources in the government said that UP was given additional doses of Covid vaccines because of the activeness shown by the chief minister in controlling the pandemic. "He is personally keeping a check on the medical arrangements made in the state to save the lives of the people," the source said.
More than 85 lakh people have got their Covid vaccine jabs so far in the state.
The Yogi-led government has made 'teamwork' a weapon to deal with the challenging situation.
Motivating the state officials, the chief minister said that the best example of COVID-19 management, which was presented by all the districts of Uttar Pradesh last year, had set an example for other states as well.
"Even in the second wave, with 'teamwork' we will definitely win the battle. Last year, because of the contribution of those involved in dealing with the pandemic, international organisations like the World Health Organisation praised the coronavirus management of Uttar Pradesh," Yogi said.
According to Dr Rakesh Dubey, Director General, Family Welfare, 28.2 lakh people have taken their dose of vaccine in just 10 days of April.
"As the Centre has opened up its Covid vaccination drive for people above 45 years of age from April 1, there is a sudden increase in the number of people getting vaccinated," he said.
"After the acceleration of the vaccination campaign, on an average, 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh vaccines are being administered every day. So far more than 72.72 lakh persons have received the first dose of the vaccine while more than 12.12 lakh have got both the doses," Dr Dubey said.
On the instructions of the chief minister, the data of Covid vaccination in the state are being recorded in the computer and districts are being ranked on the basis of this. In this order, district Balrampur has been ranked first and Auraiya second, Agra third in the case of Covid vaccination of health workers.
According to AK Jain, Drug Controller, during the pandemic times, the state government has also increased the resources of testing, number of beds and ventilators in the hospitals and other such resources. As of February 2020, there were only 86 units for making hand sanitiser in the state, which has now increased to 151.
