Covid cases were on decline in the city in the past few months but a few fresh positive cases have brought the administration on its toes. In the last 24 hours 10 positive cases have been reported.
Out of 4437 sample tests conducted 10 cases were turned positive. So far 52147 positive cases have been reported in the district.

The district administration has asked all authorities to focus on adopting extra preparedness measures in view of the New Year season and to ensure that the COVID protocol is in place in all shops and establishments and markets where people are likely to congregate.
The administration has intensified preventive measures and tightened surveillance in the wake of reports of Omicron spread in the country. DC Suraj Kumar has directed the local bodies to strengthen rapid response teams.The Health Department has also geared up to deal with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 by making the RT-PCR test mandatory for international travellers.
An official said that in this process, the Department of Health held a series of meetings with the respective district administrations following which it was decided that the international travellers would be under vigil. He said that the test is conducted in case the passenger fails to produce vaccination certificates or a negative report of tests within 72 hours. “We have held meetings with the Department of Health’s officials and are continuously monitoring the situation,” the official said.
He said that the monitoring of such international travellers would be checked and rechecked to make sure that they were not infected with the new variant.
