Administration to conduct raids to implement fresh guidelines

Thursday, 08 April 2021 | PNS | Jamshedpur

With a jump in the number of COVID – 19 positive cases in the city, the administration has decided to conduct raids at different public places, shops, and markets where norms of social distancing are being violated. On Wednesday 60 positive cases were reported in the city.

Following the announcement of fresh restrictions, a team from Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee led by its city manager Krishan Kumar made an announcement to warn shopkeepers to close their shutters from 8 pm starting from Thursday.

“Despite the rising number of COVID-19 cases, people are still not following the rules. Strict enforcement of the triad of precautionary measures — use of masks and sanitisers and following social distancing — in public spaces has become a priority,” said Kumar.

Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar directed police authorities not to give entry to the visitors from other states on the inter-state border in case the vehicle is not carrying a valid pass.

DC has asked people not to eat while standing near street food points, there is a facility of home delivery, people should use it. Five or more people cannot stand near the shops and they must comply with social distancing among themselves.

He reiterated residents not to leave their homes unnecessarily, if it's urgent they need to go out then they must use masks, as well as wash hands with soap and sanitiser at regular intervals.

Meanwhile, the total active case in the second phase has increased to 800 cases so far. Orders have also been issued to identify shops or market places that are inviting crowds and not paying heed to the safety norms.

The district administration meanwhile said that though the machinery is now well prepared both in terms of understanding the disease and in terms of infrastructure and equipment after having combated the pandemic for over a year, they feel that vaccination can play a key role in stopping the surge.
