In yet another achievement with the help of APEDA a Ministry of Commerce, Government of India subsidiary and Department of Agriculture, Government of Jharkhand, the first ever consignment of Colocasia (Two MT) and long beans (200 Kg) has been sent from Pakur, Jharkhand to Doha, Qatar.

On this occasion, Ranjan said that we are sending Kachu abroad to Qatar. The District Administration, in collaboration with APEDA which is an organization of the Government of India, is running the Chas Haat project. Around 8000 farmers have been added to this scheme. We will try to ensure that the production that will be produced by the farmers should be of international standard so that it can be shipped as a premium product in the international and national market, he added.

“This will give strength to our farmers, there is a problem of the farmers that they will produce, but to provide the market, especially where they can get good prices. We will meet that challenge with the help of APEDA. In the coming time, for Pakur district, our efforts will be made to provide a better market to the farmers here,” said Ranjan.

APEDA Regional Director, Sandeep Saha informed that the consignment shipment has been done by an established exporter, Gopal Saha of M/s JBL Enterprise (APEDA registered exporter) from West Bengal and the product is being exported to a reputed import house in Doha namely, Family Food Centre.

“In the coming days, it is expected that more shipments of Peas, onions, Green chilli and other fresh vegetables will be sourced from Pakur to other parts of the world. The objective of such an initiative is to enhance farmers’ income and bring Jharkhand in map of Agriculture Products’ Export,” said Saha.
