AISPLB asks govt to reconsider proposed population control law

Tuesday, 27 July 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

All India Shia Personal Law Board urged the Yogi Adityanath government to reconsider the proposed law on population control after a meeting in Lucknow on Monday, maintaining that a campaign had been launched to malign Muslims on the issue of religious conversion by vested interests.

Presiding over the meeting, Maulana Saayam Mehdi said that the aim of these cases of religious conversion by Muslims was purely to malign the Muslims as it was not possible to forcibly convert any person to Islam.

The Shia Personal Law Board meeting also demanded action against UP Shia Waqf Board chairperson Wasim Rizvi, for his attempts to malign Islam and Quran. The Shia cleric asked the government to pay attention on the maintenance of the dilapidated building of Hussainabad Trust and other monuments of the Nawabi era.
