Amarinder connived with Akalis and BJP to ruin Punjab: Channi

Wednesday, 24 November 2021 | PNS | Banga

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday slammed the former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder for conniving with the Akalis and BJP to harm the interests of the state.

The Chief Minister, addressing a gathering, said that during his tenure Capt Amarinder secured the interests of the Badal family and Modi by jeopardising the interests of Punjab. “Due to this, Congress MLAs have unitedly ousted him from the chair of Chief Minister. The new party floated by Capt Amarinder is also aimed at benefiting the Akalis and BJP thereby ruining the state,” he said. The Chief Minister further said that an elite and unholy nexus of politicians across the party line had excluded power from the common man just to loot Punjab.

“The members of this elite group have a common bond in form of their own vested interests to loot the State,” he said adding that they have been wilfully doing this so by enjoying the fruits of power in game of musical chairs where the ruler changes after every five years but power remains in their hands. Channi said that however, now this nexus has been broken and the power is with the common man.

The Chief Minister said that he was fortunate that Congress leadership has bestowed him this service to serve the state. “I am working to resolve the issues that are faced by every common man of the State,” he said listing the several pro-people initiatives taken by his government. Accusing the Akalis of ignoring the interests of the Scheduled Castes (SCs), the Chief Minister said that the Akalis have had an unholy alliance with BSP and has deliberately allotted them weak seats.

“On these seats, the Akalis will benefit the BJP in winning these seats. The primary motive is to ensure that interests of the SC community are harmed,” he said.

Training guns against the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister described him as “rumour monger” who is least bothered about the state.

“Kejriwal is only making hollow promises whereas my government is delivering good governance and clean administration to the people,” said Channi asking the people to not get misled by the tall claims of Kejriwal and company. The Chief Minister said that all the decisions taken by his government are being implemented immediately to provide relief to people. “The opposition is baselessly levelling allegations in dearth of any issue. On ground, the decision is benefitting the people,” he added.

NEW DEGREE COLLEGE, SPORTS HUB TO BANGA

Giving a push to development of the Banga assembly segment, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday announced a grant of Rs 132 crore for the constituency including a Government college and an integrated sports stadium.

Channi, addressing a public gathering, announced these grants aimed at ensuring holistic development of the region, including Rs 15 crore for construction of Government Degree College in Sarhala Ranua village on the name of Chief Architect of Indian Constitution Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar.

Channi envisioned that this degree college will be instrumental in providing affordable quality higher education to students, especially from weaker and underprivileged sections.

Likewise, the Chief Minister also announced a grant worth Rs 12 crore for construction of Shaheed-e-Aazam Bhagat Singh Integrated Model Sports stadium at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of the iconic martyr.

“State of the art stadium will act as a catalyst to wean away the youth from the menace of drugs and channelize their unbounded energy in a positive direction. This will be a humble tribute to a legendary martyr by the State Government,” he added.
