Anirudh Gunjal bags gold in 8th West Zone shotgun shooting championship

The player of Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy showcased his talent in  the 8th West Zone Shotgun Shooting Championship by bagging a gold medal.

The 8th West Zone Shotgun Shooting Championship is being held at Surendra Nagar, Gujarat. State shooting academy's shotgun player Anirudh Gunjal earned a gold medal in the Tap Junior event. Anirudh received this medal, scoring a total of 38 points. While Academy player Divyansh Singh won the bronze medal with 37 points in the same event. With this, both the academy's players qualified for the National. Shantanu Prakash of Maharashtra finished second.

As many as 6 boys and 3 girl players of Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy are participating in West Zone Shotgun Shooting Championship (Pre-National) starting March 7 at Surendra Nagar. These include 6 boys of Tepee and Skeet event and 3 girl players of Skeet event. The said players are participating in the championship under the guidance of Indrajit Sikdar, assistant instructor of Shooting Academy. The championship will be played till March 14.

Meanwhile, Gaurav Yadav, a player from Taekwondo Academy, will represent the Indian team at the World University Games.

Madhya Pradesh State Martial Arts Taekwondo Academy player Gaurav Yadav will represent the Indian team at the World University Games to be held from August 18 to 29, 2021 in Chengdu, China. Gaurav's under-54 kg weight gain due to the superb performance by Gaurav Yadav in the selection trial conducted by MDU (Maharishi Dayanand University) from 6 to 10 March 2021 in Rohtak, Haryana. Selection has been made for the World University Games in India.

State Sports and Youth Welfare Minister  Yashodhara Raje Scindia congratulated Gaurav Yadav on being selected for the World University Games. He congratulated Gaurav for doing better in the World University Games and winning medals for the country.

In the pre-quarter final match of the selection trial, Gaurav defeated the player of Gurunanak Dev University, Amritsar by 19-12 points. He defeated the player of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University, Gujarat by 20-9 points in the quarter-finals to make it to the semi-finals. In the semi-final match, Gaurav defeated the player of Babasaheb Ambedkar University, Bangalore by 23-17 points and defeated the host University MDU player 26-22 in the final to win the title and make it to the Indian team.
