Around 5 lakh eligible beneficiaries have got their vaccine shots against Covid-19 in the Bokaro district so far.

Civil Surgeon Dr Ashok Kumar Pathak informed that a total of 4,91,144 eligible beneficiaries had been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the district by 24 July. The first dose was administered to 3,69,480 residents, while around 1,21,664 beneficiaries got their second dose.

Pathak appealed to the people of the district to reach the vaccination centres in maximum numbers, take the vaccine, and prevent the spread of infection of Covid-19. He directed the concerned officials to speed up the vaccination campaign.

“We are also conducting an awareness campaign. Appeals are being made to the residents of the district to get their vaccine shot for Covid-19 when their turn comes,” said Pathak.

“There is no need to be afraid of the vaccine. It is completely safe. People should get vaccinated without any hesitation,” he added.

Pathak has appealed to the masses not to step out from homes without a face mask and follow social distancing. “Stay away from rumours and follow the guidelines issued by the state government,” he urged.

Notably, the district reported a sustained decline in positive cases in the past few days while the recovery rate is constantly increasing.  Five patients were recovered and discharged from Covid hospital, and one death was reported on Saturday.

One new person tested Covid-19 positive in the district on Saturday and admitted in a Covid Hospital, and further contact tracing is being performed.

The number of active cases stands at 25, the death toll in the district stands at 282, he said.
