Jailed Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur Azam Khan and his son Abdulla Azam had to be shifted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow on Sunday evening after the former’s condition deteriorated at Sitapur District Jail on Monday. The father-son duo tested Covid positive a few days back.
According to Medanta Hospital authorities, Azam Khan’s oxygen requirement was about 10 litres per minute after which he was shifted to the ICU while Abdullah’s condition was stated to be stable.
Earlier at Sitapur District Jail, the oxygen level of Azam Khan had dropped to 90, after which he and his son were escorted by police and Health department officials to the Lucknow hospital.
The Samajwadi Party veteran has been in Sitapur District Jail for more than a year along with his wife Tazeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam after surrendering before a Rampur court. Khan’s wife, however, secured bail a few days back, but he and his son are still in jail. The three were accused in multiple cases for their alleged connection to land grabbing, encroachment and others by the Yogi government. Khan has secured bail in most cases while son has also got bail in some cases lodged against him.
